What is Summoner Chess?
Welcome to the enchanting world of Summoner Chess, where strategy meets mysticism in a collector's card game like no other. Imagine a fusion of traditional chess and the captivating allure of card collectibles, and you'll find yourself immersed in a thrilling gaming experience that's both familiar and refreshingly new.
Summoner Chess is an ode to strategic brilliance, where every move counts and every decision shapes your destiny. The game revolves around a 10x9 board, providing a larger canvas for your tactical genius to unfold. At its core, it's a collector's card game that offers endless possibilities.
-
At its heart, Summoner Chess is about mastering the art of strategic warfare. Your deck of cards forms your army, with each card representing a distinct chess piece. From nimble knights to powerful queens, you'll navigate the battlefield, using cunning and intellect to outmaneuver your opponent. But here's the twist: instead of traditional chess captures, you'll rely on ranged attacks and clever abilities to outwit your adversaries.
-
Deck-building is where the magic truly happens. Craft your perfect army by assembling a deck of 16 cards. These include pawns, rooks, bishops, knights, kings, queens, and more. But don't be fooled by the familiar names – each card offers a unique twist and ability. The deck you build is a reflection of your strategic style and preferences.
-
Whether you're new to card games or an experienced collector, Summoner Chess welcomes players of all backgrounds and skill levels. Dive into a world of strategy, intrigue, and camaraderie – a world where every match is a new adventure, every card is a unique piece of art, and every move is a step closer to victory.

Summoner Chess, a quick breakdown.
-
You'll quickly observe that the Summoner Chess board, being 10x9, has an additional column on each side compared to the traditional chessboard. This is intentional! The added breadth provides a unique dynamic, allowing for broader strategic moves and intricate plays. Embrace this expanded battlefield and let your strategy unfold.
Initiating a game of Summoner Chess calls for precision in setting up your board, a vital step where your strategic prowess takes its root. Start by placing your Rooks on the corners one tile in from the edge. Adjacent to them, position your Knights. Bishops find their place next to the Knights. The King and Queen stand strong and centralized, with the Queen always positioned on a square to the right of the king. Before them, guarding the royals, the Pawns fill the entire front row. (a colum on both side remains empty)
-
Total Cards: Your deck should comprise 16 cards.
Composition:
Pawns: 8 cards. However, no more than 3 of the same pawn.
Rooks: 2 cards.
Bishops: 2 cards.
Knights: 2 cards.
King: 1 card.
Queen: 1 card.
Faction Banners: The key to your deck's synergy is the faction banner(s) on your chosen King card.
——————————————
Your King card might have one or multiple banners.
Every card in your deck must have at least one banner that matches one of those on the King.
This ensures thematic and strategic coherence in your deck, tying all your cards to the core identity represented by your King.
——————————————
Flexibility: Your board setup doesn't have to be symmetrical. This means, for instance, that your two Rook cards can be different, as long as they each have a banner matching the King's and represent the correct chess piece.
-
Special Phase:
Position: Must always be the first phase of your turn.
Actions: During this phase, you can either:
Activate one of your card's special abilities.
Revive an unconscious card, provided you have another card adjacent to it (no diagonals, only up, down, left, or right).
————————————
Movement Phase:
Position: Can be either before or after the Attack Phase, but after the Special Phase.
Action: Move one of your cards.
Card movement adheres to traditional chess piece movements, with specific alterations for the pawn.
————————————
Attack Phase:
Position: Can be either before or after the Movement Phase, but after the Special Phase.
Action: Choose a card to attack an opponent's card.
Attacks must be in straight lines: up, down, left, or right, and within your card's range.
Attacks can't pass through another card, requiring a clear line of sight.
————————————
Remember: While Movement is the only mandatory phase, if you choose to engage in the Special Phase, it must always be the first. You can use different cards for each phase in a single turn. For example, you could activate a card's ability in the Special Phase, move a different card in the Movement Phase, and then attack with yet another card in the Attack Phase.
